Asiea Naqash inaugurates two-day National Seminar on Girl Education | KNO

SRINAGAR, MARCH 24 (KNO) : Minister of State for Housing & Urban Development, Health, Medical Education and Social Welfare, Asiea Naqash Saturday inaugurated a Two-Day National Seminar on Girl Education at Government College of Education MA Road Srinagar.

The seminar is organised by the Women’s Studies Centre of Govt. College of Education, (IASE) MA Road, under centrally sponsored Teacher Education Scheme. Vice Chancellor, Cluster University Srinagar Dr Sheikh Javid Ahmad was also present on the occasion as the Guest of Honor while Dr Priti Dhawan, H.O.D. Psychology, LSR, New Delhi, Seema Kakran, Deputy Director WISCOMP, New Delhi were also present during the inaugural function. Speaking on the occasion Asiea Naqash laid emphasis on the economic, social, cultural and political development among women in the present era.

She also enumerated various schemes for welfare of girls & women for their educational and social development and urged them to take advantage of these schemes.

Vice Chancellor Dr Sheikh Javid Ahmad in his address focused the indispensability of Girl education to develop an empowered and evolved woman contributing to a healthy society. The inaugural session was followed by four Technical Sessions and panel discussions in which 18 papers were presented on number of issues, concerns, obstacles preventing the avenues of education in the real life situations.

The discussion reached to a consensus that a lot is being done towards girl’s education but it was felt that we are still lagging behind the expected goal. The panel discussion prior to the valedictory function was chaired by Gousia Jeelani, Former Principal & District Session Judge, Srinagar with Seema Kakran, Deputy Director, WISCOMP, New Delhi, Muslim Jan, Senior Editor MERC, University of Kashmir and Prof. (Dr.) Parveen Pandit as Panelists. The audience was enlightened and apprised of the importance of education for girls to turn them developed and envisioned women for themselves and the society that they live in.

The Valedictory function began with address of the Principal followed by the valedictory address of the Chief Guest Gousai Jeelani who threw light on “Significance of Holistic education for women for their development & progress. The certificates were distributed among the participants followed by the vote of thanks by Dr. Showkat Afza. Earlier the Director WSC Dr Parveen Pandit formally welcomed the Guests and Highlighted the significance of education for the girls in order to be intrinsically evolved with leading capacity.(KNO)
